Food and Drug Administration Warn Against Misleading Advertisement

December 16, 2011 – So a few days ago, we find there is evidence of some bad ads regarding foods. According to reports the Food and Drug Administration is warning that advertisements could be misleading. According to the Food and Drug Administration the advertisements by a marketing firm and centers for the implementation of the Lap-Band do not provide the mandatory information for the risks and side effects. The Lap-Band device is manufactured by an Irvine based company Allergan Inc., who was not included in the entities that received the FDA warning.
The marketing firm that received a warning is 1-800-Get-Thin LLC that is based in Pasadena, who provides information and consultations for sessions on Lap-Band surgeries.

There were FDA warnings that were sent to surgery centers including: Beverly Hills Surgery Center, Bakersfield Surgery Institute Inc., Valley Surgical Center, Top Surgeons LLC, Palmdale Ambulatory Center, Cosmopolitan Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, San Diego Ambulatory Center LLC and Valencia Ambulatory Center LLC. The warning by the FDA includes billboards and advertising inserts that are used that the promotion of the Lap-Band surgery procedure fails to warn of risks, precautions. The warning that side effects can include; vomiting and nausea, and the risk information that can include infection or death.
